Supported Housing
Since 2017, our foundation has been operating supported housing as a social service. Based on different service needs, we provide this opportunity across a total of 4 locations, primarily for clients with intellectual disabilities.
Our housing operates in properties accommodating 4, 6, 9, and 10 people in the western part of Pécs. Our 6-, 9-, and 10-person homes are located in residential neighborhoods, in multi-story family houses integrated into their surroundings. Continuous support is provided, but it is important that our staff do not do everyday tasks instead of the youngsters, but rather together with them.
Access to the service is only possible after pre-assessment and the submission of an application.
In 1999, with financial support won through the “Fészek” program of the Kézenfogva Foundation, we established a residential home on our own property for nine young adults.
This service formed the basis of providing housing for adults with intellectual disabilities, which we have been continuously offering ever since. Supported housing is a service form that creates appropriate conditions for people with disabilities to develop a more open, family-like lifestyle for themselves. Our goal is to maintain and promote independent living in accordance with the users’ age, health status, and self-care abilities. Since supported housing is based on the individual’s existing network of relationships (as opposed to traditional residential care), it enables more personal care and greater autonomy. Our aim is that, upon returning home, youngsters have the opportunity for privacy, meaningful leisure activities, self-care, and participation in household tasks.
